The stars aligned when I was recently gifted a lovely clematis veiner from Sunflower Sugar Art and then had to make one for a wedding cake order. After many years of making sugar flowers, can you believe this is the first time I have tried clematis? Of course, I had to film the process so today let me share with you my clematis sugar flower tutorial!

Now there are so many different clematis varieties. They vary with the number of petals, shape of the petals and even the smoothness of the petals. The one I have chosen has 5 petals and ruffly crinkly edged petals in deep burgundy. But you could of course use this clematis sugar flower tutorial as a base to experiment and switch up for a different variety.

I wanted this to be a quick and simple flower. So other than the drying time for the petals and centre, this clematis can be completed very quickly. I have created a simplified version for an effective natural centre and the petals are quick and easy to create using the Sunflower Sugar Art veiner. If you want to speed up your drying time, have you seen my tips for using a dehydrator?
