Japanese anemones are one of the stars of the September garden here in the U.K. Although I already have a Japanese anemone sugar flower tutorial in my YouTube Shorts, I thought it was about time to create a more in-depth version.

My new Japanese anemone sugar flower tutorial is based on the “Honorine Jobert” variety which is looking rather splendid in my front garden at the moment. I’ve included a few snaps taken in the garden as inspiration alongside my sugar version. This is a nice and easy flower to learn and is one that I frequently teach in my 1-1 private classes as it is a perfect introduction to wired petals.

Anatomy

The flower is formed of 3 simple components: the pistil, stamen and 8 petals. I promise you, once you have got the hang of making these, you will be able to make them super quickly. This makes them a fabulous cost effective medium sized flower for arrangements!
