Have you always wanted to learn how to arrange, style and photograph your sugar flowers?

We will be addressing 2 of the main pain points that my students come to me with. Firstly, arranging your flowers and secondly, styling and photographing your flowers, cakes and arrangements. Janne’s photography and styling expertise is second to none and so this workshop is an incredible opportunity for you to elevate those skills. You can check out Janne’s beautiful work here. What will the workshop entail?

On Day 1, you will learn how how to make a realistic dahlia and cosmos sugar flower inspired by the September garden. We will head into Janne’s beautiful garden and pick a few blooms to inspire us, study them and then recreate them in sugar form. There really is nothing comparable to working from real flowers. And we will have the best of the season to work from!

On Day 2, you will then be guided through creating a still life in the Dutch Masters style using real flowers along with the ones you have made. We will cover the art of styling, composition and how to best capture your work to create stand out imagery for your social media, website and portfolio.

When is the workshop?

The workshop will take place on Sunday 7th September – Monday 8th September 2025 at Janne’s studio near Thirsk in North Yorkshire. Each day will start at 10am and finish at around 4pm.

Do I need any experience in flowers or photography?

No, not at all! The workshop is suitable for all levels. It is perfect for anyone creative who would like to try their hand at something new. It is also ideal for home bakers and cake makers looking to up level their floral, sugarcraft, styling and photography skills.

Do I need to bring anything?

The only thing you need to bring is a camera phone or DSLR. All other tools and materials will be provided along with lunch and refreshments. You will also need to find your own accommodation if you are not based locally.

How many places are available?

Places are strictly limited to 6-8 for an intimate learning environment. This allows for plenty of direct help from myself and Janne.
