Get creative with flowers
The mission of our collaborative workshops is simple: to encourage you to get creative with flowers! I will be sharing my flower crafting skills, guiding you through how to study and replicate a hellebore. Meanwhile Janne will bring her creative styling, arranging and photography expertise to the table. You will leave the workshop with your own piece of botanical art, a beautiful seasonal arrangement and the know-how to create showstopping images of your work.
What will the workshop entail?
On Day 1, you will learn how how to make a realistic hellebore from cold porcelain clay. Working with fresh flowers in front of us, I will guide you through creating the flower, bud and leaves of these most elegant and robust flowers. Hellebores reliably carry the garden through Winter and into Spring when not a lot else is in bloom. No wonder they are a favourite of gardeners and florists alike! We will then bring our own flowers to life using oil paints to create a lifelike everlasting bloom.
On Day 2, Janne will guide you through making you own seasonal bowl arrangement incorporating your cold porcelain hellebores before photographing it in and outside the studio exploring different backdrops and compositions.

When is the workshop?
The workshop will take place on Sunday 22nd March – Monday 23rd March 2026 at Janne’s studio near Thirsk in North Yorkshire. Each day will start at 10am and finish at around 4pm.
Do I need any experience in flowers or photography?
No, not at all! The workshop is suitable for all levels. It is perfect for creatives, hobbyists and cake artists who want to take a closer look at using and designing with flowers in their work.
Do I need to bring anything?
The only thing you need to bring is a camera phone or DSLR. All other tools and materials will be provided along with lunch and refreshments. You will also need to find your own accommodation if you are not based locally.
How many places are available?
Places are limited to 4 for an intimate learning environment. This allows for plenty of direct help from myself and Janne.
How much is the class and how do I book?
The workshop is priced at £495 for the 2 days. Places are bookable by contacting The Botanical Cake Studio or Janne Ford directly.
