Autumn is blustering away and the ruddy colours are coming in. One of my favourites at this time of year are the sunflowers that are still going strong. I love the variety “Ruby Eclipse” for its bicolour blooms of a deep ruby burgundy and soft buttery caramel.

One of my 1-1 students requested to make sunflowers the other day so I thought it was time I filmed a tutorial for them too. They are really very simple to make if you take care with your drying times. You can also vary the number of petals depending on the size of your flower. For smaller flowers (and less petals), simply create a smaller centre. The centre and overall size of sunflowers vary greatly in nature so this tutorial is very adaptable.

Below are a list of the tools and materials that I have used (or very similar) in this tutorial. By all means you do not need to use the exact same but the list serves as a guide. You can find links on where to purchase them too in case you need to source them.
